Our team considers factors such as medical history, addiction severity, and personal circumstances to create personalized treatment plans tailored to the specific needs of each patient.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Medication-Assisted Treatment?
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is an evidence-based treatment model that combines medication, such as buprenorphine or methadone, with counseling and behavioral therapies to treat people who suffer from opioid use disorders. This type of therapy helps individuals overcome their addiction by reducing cravings and withdrawal symptoms.
What is Suboxone?
Suboxone is the brand name for prescription medication designed to treat opioid addiction. Suboxone has two ingredients: the opioid buprenorphine and the medication naloxone. The combined effects of these two ingredients reduce cravings for addictive opioids such as heroin, codeine, fentanyl, and oxycodone.
Why choose Medicated Assisted Treatment over other treatments?
MAT has numerous advantages that more effectively treat opioid addiction completely. Benefits include: Reduced w/d sx, Cravings & relapse rates, Increased recovery rate, Higher chances of long-term success, and More positive outcomes.
Do I have to be in withdrawal to start treatment?
No! You don’t need to be in withdrawal at your first appointment. However, opioid abstinence of at least 12-24 hours before your first dose depends on what type of opioid you use. We will provide you home induction guide, and our care team will be available at any time if you have any questions or concerns. Your medical provider will work closely with you throughout the process to check how you’re doing and help you through it.
How long do I have to be in treatment?
It depends on how long you’ve been using opioids and how much you use. How well you respond to treatment can make a big difference, so it is hard to predict beforehand and varies from patient to patient. The recovery process takes time, but we will be here to help you through every part of it, no matter how long it takes!
What is home induction?
Home induction is the process of getting started on Suboxone. You can be at our office to get started, or you can do this at home. Our medical provider and care team will discuss this with you and find the best option for you. We will provide you with a home induction guide, and your care team will be available throughout the process.
Are there side effects from taking medication during MAT?
Yes, there can be side effects from taking medication during Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT). However, these are usually mild and temporary. Some common side effects include drowsiness, nausea, headaches, constipation, and dry mouth. The medical professionals at New Roads Health will work with you to ensure that any side effects experienced from your medications can be managed properly.
